Noise in the ears therapy

Western medicine's approach in analyzing and dealing with  diseases is based on a segmental picture of the human organism. Medical science keeps focussing on functional  units of the body, which will be considered as the root of a disease,  leading to the concept that disease and illness are localized in that part of the body where the pain sensation or symptom  occurs. For this reason, a “heart medical specialist” or cardiologist will handle heart diseases  independantly from possible other underlying causes beyond his area of speciality.

The holistic approach to tinnitus treatment handles diseases differently.  Here the whole body system is  taken into consideration, since a disease is not necessarily developed at the location where the patient's problems  occur.  All components of our body are interconnected and influence one another.  The  outbreak of a disease is nothing but a warining sign that the entire system  is out of equilibrium.  Just treating that particular organ, where the  problems occur, is not entirely successful, because this praxis can boil down to a  mere treatment of symptoms, not of causes.

Since tinnitus has a large number of potential causes, singular and multifactorial, a segmental approach very  soon hits its limits.  This is also one reason why there are so many different treatments  proposed by the western school medicine, and only a limited number of are totally  effective for a few patients.  A holistic approach promises to be more effective, since  right from the start the whole human body of the patient is  participating in the healing program, not  limiting the treatment to the ears.  Also mental factors should be taken into  consideration applying the holistic approach.  Stress, e.g., can be quite often a  possible cause for the development of tinnitus.  Taking a look at and into the ears of such a  patient will not uncover a lot of diagnostic and therapeutic evidence for the problem, since stress takes  place at a different part of the body and translates in the end into tinnitus as an warning  sign.  In other words, holistic medicine will take the full body (physiology) and also the psychology of the  patient into consideration, and thus admitting to the natural setup of our physical existence as human  beings.

There is a large number of possible reasons for the development of  tinnitus. Thus there is a variety of possible therapeutic alternatives to the problem, as  listed below:

Herbal Medicine, Homeopathy, Lifestyle, Massage, Meditation, Mind/Body Medicine, Nutrition, Reflexology, Relaxation, Tissue  Salts, Acupuncture and Acupressure, Alexander Technique, Aromatherapy, Autosuggestion / Hypnosis, Ayurveda, Bach Flower Remedy,  Biofeedback, Deep Breathing, Chiropractic, Color Therapy, Diet, Vitamin and nutritional Supplements, Guided Imagery and  Visualization.

With all this in mind, we have also to remember that the western school medicine seems to be  nearly helpless when it comes to those so called  civilization ailments.  Arthritis, hypertension, diabetes, and many more diseases are considered to be incurable,  and  western school medicine renders nothing but pain sensation and disease  management.  The truth is that a good prophylaxis and holistic treatment increase the possibility of a successful cure for  all these diseases, including tinnitus.
